Haiti Update: Tuesday, Jan 29
We finished all but one small section of the longest wall today, and made significant progress on the other three and couple of interior walls. The morning was hot and humid, and kicked our tails. But, after a great lunch and some rest, we got a second wind for the afternoon. Plus, it cooled off just enough to make a difference.
This evening at dinner, Cassidy, an American missionary with Kids Alive, came to the team house for dinner (fried goat, breaded fried plantains, slightly spicy green beans, potatoes, and banana bread). After dinner we had our second debriefing sessions with Cassidy, to talk about our first impressions, discuss cultural impressions, and ask questions about life in Haiti. It was a very enjoyable and informative evening.
Tomorrow it's back to work on the cafeteria, and we are optimistic about completing the first floor of the dining hall. Kids Alive decided to add a second floor to use as a team house, which will be great.
Each morning during our team devotions, we are discussing poverty, justice, and compassion, and how thoroughly these topics permeate the Scriptures. We also pray each day for those who are praying for us, with much gratitude.
For the team, Pastor Doug
